Personal Visual Arts Project________________
During week one of studies all students were asked to construct a pirate hat.
Image 1 shows the first pirate hat I constructed using the instructional (didactic) method. This method took as the through the process of making the hat in a step-by-step form. As you can see it is quite plain, but the method was easy to follow and the end result was a functioning pirate hat.
Once the hat in Image 1 was created I was asked to gather any items that could be used to create a more exciting hat. The items I collected were, pipe cleaners, stickers, fluffy pom poms, textas, pencils, ribbon and paint. As you can see by Image 2 they were very colorful.
The final part of the project was to create a hat using the collected items. There was no step-by-step instruction for this hat. I made and decorated my hat with my 1 year old daughter in mind. She loves pink and butterflies, so my hat was has pink pipe cleaners and a pink pom pom. It also has a large pink butterfly on the front, making her Captain of the pirate ship Butterfly!
